Washington Mutual Bank
Lie about closing date on account

Business & Finance

I had fallen on some hard times. I just returned to work the beginning of this month. My account with Washington Mutual fell behind at the end of September after being out of work since July.

I was told that if I paid $80 the manager would waive some of the fees that had accrued on the account. Most of my balance is fees. I overdrew the account by $24.88 and was told that I had until 11/27 to get the account caught up to get the help and keep it closed. Well 11/27 is Thanksgiving so it would be 11/26 that I had til. Today is 11/25 and the account was charged off and closed yesterday.

When I called to see what happened I was told that there was nothing that could be done once they close an account. I was also told that there would be no negative reflection to any consumer reporting agency what so ever if I paid the balance now.

Does anyone know if it is true that if you pay an account quickly after charge off that there is no reporting of the account to anyone?
