Rem preys on timeshare owners

About two years ago my wife I traveled to Disneyworld. We stayed at the Ramada Plaza and were quickly greeted in the lobby by Westgate Resorts employees offering discounted tickets to listen to a timeshare presentation. We ultimately bought into one. First mistake. As economic times got harder, we were contacted by Resort Equity Maketing (REM)... Second mistake (I listened to them). They offered to assist us sell our timeshare. Fee was $799. At the time I was told this was a guarantee to sell or rent the timeshare withing 180 days. Well here is where the real scam begins. REM lists your timeshare on their cheesy website. They boast of being able to market your property at trade shows all over. Not one e-mail, phone call, or prospective offer came in after 7 months. I tried to get my money refunded and was told there was no promise of a "money back" guarantee. They give you a shopping spree to Elite Shopping Network.

Bottom line is, if you give REM your money, it's as good as gone, wasted, nada, zip, zilch. I think we all get the picture. Only a licensed real estate broker or agent can sell your property. The only way I can get my money back is if I sell it on my own or find someone to sell it for the same or lower price. Which if I could have done that to begin with, I would NOT have used this scam-artist of a company. I still have not recieved my "Shopping spree". Only a bunch of e-mails from these guys telling me I should have not listed with them if I thought I was going to get my money back.
