Resort Equity Marketing
Used deceptive language to entice me to spend money to sell my timeshare. And then they did not find any renters or buyers., California

Shops, Products, Services

I answered a call to sell or rent my timeshare in January. I was told that businesses who use the local convention center like to buy my type of timeshare because it uses points and they can be used anywhere. I asked how much it would cost to do this and the woman said $1000. I said I did not have an extra $1000 lying around in order to do this. She then said I tell all my customers to put it on the card as it will be rented before the first bill is due. I'm not normally this stuipd but I was stressing over lack of money so I believed her. She did say that if it does not sell within 180 days, I can get a gift certificate for $1000 from Elite Shopping Network. I said I would check them out and if there was anyting of interest that I could buy, I would do it. There were some nice laptops that I could use for work so I thought I did not have much to lose. How wrong I was.

Last Saturday became day 180 of it being listed and not one spark of interest in our property. I called REM and reminded them that the date had arrived. The man said he would send out the gift certificate that day. He did. I received the gift certifice for $1000 today. I went on line to get my lap top only to discover that they had sent me a gift certificate for Selectyourgift.com. There is nothing remotely similar to what I had seen on Elite Shopping Network's website. I tried calling the numbers that were written on the contract regarding the "shopping spree" and none of them were for Elite Shopping Network. I tried calling Resort Equity Marketing and did not get any answer. Still waiting for a return call.

I basically gave $1000 to a company for nothing. I would love to be involved in a class action lawsuit with this company. I tried contacting the Attorney General's office in Florida but they could not find fault in this company. I think I contacted them too early in the process.

If anyone knows of a class action lawsuit with this company, I would love to know about it.
