Bait and Switch interest rate tactics

Let's start by saying i was referred to this brand new branch by the contractor that was about to start a home improvement project on my home.

I called in and asked for "Kevin" but he was not available so "Robert" took my call.

I was interested in refinancing my 2nd mortgage on my house adding the balance of the home improvement project.

I told him my current interest was 7% and i was interested in what his rates were. I was open and confident to give him my credit information since my score, history, DTI ratio and equity was stellar.

He told me i was able to get 7% or better for the loan and to come in...

So we agreed on meeting at 3Pm that day at the branch.

When i arrived at 2:55pm he was gone... Red flags should have popped up at that point since i had to present the entire scenario to a "Jonathan" working the desk at the time.

After i present the info, "Jonathan" tells me the rates are from 8.5 to 9% without even looking at my credit!!!

He tells me to fill out an application (inquiry on my credit now) and tells me he will get back to me.

Needless to say, he stuck to the 8.9 and the branch manager was unable to answer WHY "robert" would have told me 7% or better over the phone.

I felt like i've been at Joe's Used car lot and nearly got sold a lemon dealing with Capital one in Spring TX.
