Bank Of America
Undocumented Fees overdraft fees when there are no overdrafts listed on statement

Business & Finance

I always check my online banking statement daily due to past problems with overdraft fees with this company.in the last two months this company has taken over $600 in overdraft fees. I was charged for 8 fees of $35 each and acording to the statement, that I printed out for proof, I was not overdrafted. The reasoning behind the overdraft is that when the purchase was made their wasn't enough money in the account even though I made a cash deposit the same day that the purchase was made. When I spoke to customer service and asked for a print out showing me exactly where I was overdrawn, they refused to provide this request. I didn't even receive a reason why, she just kept saying "We are following the banks guidelines and the fees would apply, but they did give me a courtesy refund of $60 because that is all she was allowed to refund.

It didn't matter that this company just took $280 of my paycheck. I had planned on leaving Bank of America after this happened but decided to stay with them because of changing direct deposit for my husband and myself is a pain.

However, after today, I changed banks. I opened a new account with another bank today, and soon will have nothing more to do with Bank of America. Yesterday, I checked my account and all my charges were pending, except for a $20.01 gas charge. I had an available balance of $25.89, so I new (or thought I new my account was safe until I could get in today to deposit additional funds. When I checked my account this morning I was overdrawn by over $81.00. I'm still not sure of how this occured because I did not print out yesterdays online statement. I called customer to find out what had happened and she stated the because I processed my mortgage on the internet, it came out before any of the charges that occurred over the weekend.

Now the last time, I was told that charges are posted by the date that they were made and not by when they hit my bank.

But that is beside the point, I still can't figure out how I went from having available credit of $25 to being overdrawn by $81 when the only item that came in on the account overnight was the $20.01 gas charge.

I hope there is someone out there that can help the people that are being ripped off by this company. When you live paycheck to paycheck and depend on every cent that is in your bank account, something like this happens and it can be devastating.
