Said I closed account and will not reinstate

I received a notice from the Payment Protection Plan that I had in conjunction with my Chase card, saying that their service had been canceled due to a change of status in my account. I contacted Chase and asked when and why the account was closed, and why had they not bothered to inform me of this action.

I was told that since the account had been closed by me, via phone that no notice would have been sent. I asked for a transcript of the phone call and was told that calls that are recorded are only for training purposes and could not be released to the public.

I told them that I had placed no such call and that I was concerned that someone else had been able to do so and obviously had provided my account number and any other information that was needed to verify ownership of the account.

I was then told that in order to change the account number I would have to request that the account be reinstated. I made the request and was immediately refused. I received a letter today saying that the reason was that too much time had lapsed between the time the account was closed and the request to reinstate. It also stated that I should feel free to apply for another account with them.
Are they kidding???
