I deposited a payroll check of $1150 in this bank on Friday at about 2:30 pm. I asked the teller how much I could withdraw in cash at this time. She told me I had a balance of $126. I withdrew $125 because I needed to pay my new helper a little money so he could have some cash for the weekend until my payroll check cleared. The cashier said the funds for my payroll check would be available on Monday. I wrote my helper a check for the balance of his pay. Meanwhile a debit purchase of less than $5 came in that was made before Friday. Boom! $35 charge. Of course they had me now and deducted the $125 check for cash before giving me credit for my payroll check at midnight on Monday night so they could pop me for another $35.
I find it very strange that the check to my helper which was deposited in another bank cleared my bank in a few hours but they cannot give me credit for my payroll check for many days. Wachovia will manipulate dates and times to allow them to charge overdraft fees.
The bank manager at this location was no doubt a product of affirmative action. She was very unprofessional, unfriendly, rude and had a bad attitude. Times are a little tough for me right now and this ripoff has caused problems for me as I have a prescription I could not fill for a week until my next paycheck which is tomorrow. I will need to travel to Tampa to cash the check because the company uses a bank that is not located in this area.
