NCO Financial
Gulty until proven Innocent

I am a an Army Officer, age 23. I checked my credit report before searching for a new apartment, and found a collections debt over $1k to NCO Financial. I have never done business with this company, recieved any letters or phone calls either.

My FATHER once had a debt with them, but paid in full in May. This does not appear on HIS credit report, but shows on MINE, and shows as UNPAID. I called today at 3pm, and NCO could find no record of the debt, in my name or my father's, from any time. The lady (Nikki) asked me to call again, and request an official dispute to the postings on my credit report.

When i called back, the representative (Lawanda) asked for the amount owed, then suddenly confirmed the existence of the account, for the amount due i had JUST told her. I gave her proof of my identity as the son of the debtor, and requested a correction, but was immediately challenged to pay the debt.

I requested a supervisor, waited on hold for 35 minutes, when 5pm rolled around and i was automatically disconnected, because they had closed for the day.

Suggestions anyone?
