Capital Acquisitont & Mangement Company harrassment rude phone hang-up yelling fraudulent billing dishonest tried to get money on debt not owed them threatening

I received a letter from this company and immediately tried to contact them via the phone number on the letter. After 4 disconnects by this company I finally located a gentleman who stated that he wished to help me clear my debt. He stated that I could send them a check for $531.95 which is supposedly only a portion of my debt. I asked him what debt this was and he indicated that I had incurred the debt back in 1983. I was shocked!

He said his company was an acquisition company which was trying to help me clear my credit report. I stated that I had a current credit report in hand and that the debt he was referring to was not on my current credit report and therefore I would need proof of my debt.

I requested documentation signed by me when the debt was incurred. He told me that the debt was mine and that no one would try to steal my identity and charge on my credit card. I repeated my request for proof of debt. He said all he had was an avidavit that said the debt was mine. I asked him to fax the avidavit to me. I then asked him for the phone number of the company that I supposedly had the debt with. He gave it to me but then told me that if I contacted that company they would be looking for me to pay the full debt and it would be in my best interest to just pay his company the 531.95. I asked him to fax me the documentation and I would research it.

He then told me I would need to speak to his general manager. Another gentleman came on the line and was immediately rude and demanding. He told me if he faxed me the avidavit I would have 15 minutes to call him back with a decision. I stated I was not going to make a decision until I could research their claim that I owed them money. He became more irate and stated, "Let's forget faxing you the avidavit and we will handle this through legal channels." He then hung up on me.

I am just glad I had the wherewithal to look this company up on the Internet and found out they were crooks.
