Prior Year Rapid Tax
Blatantly deceptive

I had to file my 2006 taxes and did so using the PriorYear link for Rapid Tax.com. The software was easy to use, however, when I got to the end there were options for filing. I chose the "combined federal and state link" for a fee of $34.99. I paid the fee, and a day later got a notice stating my return was denied by the IRS because no tax returns were accepted by efile after 10/07 (If this is true why are they saying they can efile prior year returns?), but this is the worst part, they filed my taxes as 2007! I had already submitted my taxes for efile for 2007 thru a different tax company, and I am praying it does not delay my 2007 return, which by the way, I had to wait for Rapid Tax to send me my return by email in. Pdf format.

Once I received the download file, I had federal forms but no state! I contacted their customer service and they responded to me that state was NOT included in my fee. Oh really! I clicked the link that clearly stated "combined fee for federal and state". I now have to pay an additional $15.00 for my state retun, and wait for them to email me the forms so I can then download them and ship them off to NYS tax and finance.

I found Rapid Tax to be blatantly decpetive... Not only are they surely aware that the IRS does not accept prior year returns by efile, they misrepresent their fees, as well, and I wish somebody would do something about it because there will be thousands of future users on their site who will become victim to their poor business ethics.
