Trying to collect on a bill that was paid by insurance company several months ago!

In April I took my son to the hospital for pink eye. A YEAR later I received a bill from them. I was waiting on my son's insurance company to pay the claim. I continued to receive a bill notifying me that the insurance company has not made a payment as of yet and it is my responsibility to pay this amount in full. After receiving two bills, I didn't receive anymore. I assumed the bill was paid by the insurance company. Then I begin receiving a bill from Franklin Collection Service. Due to the insurance company not paying the bill in a timely matter, they forwarded my account to a collection agency. I began getting bills as well as telephone calls constantly. I tried contacting my insurance company to try to understand why perhaps they didn't make this payment or if they did, why I was being contacted by a collection agency. When I call the insurance company I have to leave multiple messages that are either not returned or when they are, I am unable to speak to them because I am away from home and don't have the necessary information setting in front of me. Finally today, I contacted the insurance company and was actually able to personally speak to someone. I explained the situation to them and was told by the rep that this bill WAS paid on September 7 in the entire amount of $245.00. Being that the bill was paid, why am I still getting threatening letters and constant phone calls? I have chosen not to answer the phone when they have called because I don't like to deal with these people personally threatening me over the phone. I sent them an email giving them all the information regarding my son's insurance policy number and so forth. They claim that they can contact the insurance company and try to resolve the situation themselves. Even after the email, I still got calls and bills. I had to mail the information to them to make absolutely sure they got that information. After that, a week went by without any calls or letters. Now once again, more calls and letters. This bill was paid in full almost 6 months ago, why are they still threatening to turn this over to the credit bureau? I received the check number from the insurance company and some other information proving this was paid. I don't appreciate getting contacted all the time when this was already paid. If my insurance company could not or would not pay the bill, I would have. I suppose they want me to pay the $245 as well. Wrong, that is what insurance is for. It has been paid and now I am turning this company over to the BBB and contacting an advocate to resolve this situation. I will check my credit report soon to be sure they didn't turn this over to the credit bureau.
