Bogus Credit Card Charges

I use online banking to pay my bills. On January 4th, before leaving on a trip that would take me out of state, I used Bank of America's online bill pay to pay one of my B of A (formerly MBNA) credit cards that was due on the 8th.

When I returned from my trip on the 11th of January, Bank of America had left me an email stating that my bank had rejected my online payment — as a result, they had charged me a returned check fee, a late fee, and had cancelled my ability to pay my bills online.

However, my bank had no record of a rejected payment, and there were more than sufficient funds in my account.

I wrote (via e-mail) to Bank of America, and received a form letter response that stated: "After reviewing your account, we have determined that the return check fee and the late payment fee was applied correctly. We regret that we are unable to remove the fee at this time. Therefore, this transaction will remain part of your account balance."

I wrote back and asked for a manager to review this, and received another form letter.

"We have received your request to have your request forwarded to manager for a reply. After further review, it has been determined that no bank error has occurred in associating to the fees mentioned. We regret that
we are unable to remove the fee at this time. Therefore, this transaction will remain part of your account balance."

My bank has NO record of rejecting anything & they (B of A) has provided NO documentation & but they refuse to reconsider their charges. I will write to the Better Business Bureau, and see if there is an agency that I can report them to... But I don't know what else I can do.
