Collection Agency Problem

On October the 30 off 2007 my wife went to local branch in Doral off Washington Mutual to request and total remove off the signature off her partner that no longer are partners anymore in the business.

Also she open a new account the same day because she's not sure if the partner still have check on her posesion, well after she finish all the paper work with the new account she did not receive any paper confirmation off the signature removal the office said that its okay and they will process the request immediately.

1 months later after that, she realize that the account is in negative balance because her bad partner in Venezuela made 2 check in the amount off total $600
and the pretty dumb bank pay that check after my wife 1 months ago request to do not pay any check with that signature.

Well the bank with there suck attitude took the case to the fraudulent department and they start and investigation.

Well a couple off day later we receive a letter from a collection agency that we we have to pay for the bank mistake, they did not process that request but it look like they want to wash there hands on the problem and obligated us to do that, thats not fair but it looks like again no body can't touch the banks but they can screw us.

Please any advice or help in this situation thanks i appreciate.
