I was the debtor, trying to do the right thing. Ripoff

I received a fax from a Sharon Payne saying that her company was collecting a debt that we owed a vender. We called and agreed to a settlement offer and even sent a copy (big mistake) of a check as a good faith offer. We were supposed to send the original check to the office in a few days when we had funds in the account. We agreed to monthly payments after that. Several days later my account went negative because JSA had run the check through our account.

About two weeks later she began calling again, wanting to know when the next payment would be sent. We asked her for something in writing that outlined the agreement that we had and she responded that the fax she sent us was all we needed.

I was not comfortable sending anymore payments without something in writing, so I wrote up a settlement agreement and faxed it to her. Needless to say she was very upset and proceeded to threaten filing suit and seizing our assets etc.

That is when I found this site and read stories about these people and their unsavory practices. If anyone has advice for me, I would welcome it.
