Palisades Collection
Try to collect $178.00 fr an old verizon account. Ripoff

When I apply for a mortgage, I had a credit score of 700; when the mortgage company told me that I had a credit score of 550, I was shock and embarrassed. Upon checking my credit report, I noted that Palisades collection has placed not one but two collection onto my report.

I called to verify my debt, but they are giving me the run around, stating that it is only $178, and would be easiest just to pay and all the problem will go away. Next, I called Verizon, they confirm that my balance is zero (I asked them to send me a hardcopy of the account, stating that my account is clear), and also since my account was from it would have been pasted the SOL anyway. The representative then called palisades collection, trying to clear everything up, after spending 15 minutes giving her the run around (I was on hold when she was calling them), they hung up on her.

I had send return requested register letter to them already, but no answer over 30 days. The Verizon account summary had arrive stating my clear balance.
What is my next step?
-hire a lawyer to go after Palisades?
-go after them in the small claims court
-or just pay the amount? (which I don't want to do base on principle)

I can not help but to also think that Verizon is also responsible for send my information to Palisades, should I also sue Verizon as well? I believe if enough people go after Verizon or AT&T, they would stop using them.

From reading the report, I am sure a lot of people had the anger dealing with this company, can someone recommend a solution for me please?
