Collector claims I owe $5,000 for my son's student loans

My son took out many student loans for his education. He is very diligent about making his payments. He consolidated all his loans into 2 payments. Out of the blue this company contacts me and says I owe $5,000 for my sons loans. I never signed anything or committed myself to any thing of this sort. I am a paraplegic and if I were to be involved we would have used other loans for such circumstance. They are now harassing me. Making threats to take my public assistance. I demanded to see some paperwork to prove I owe this money. They ignore me.
