Fraud waste and abuse

Student loans that go into deferment or default seem to be open targets for deceptive collection practices even after the loan has been paid. My wife had a Sallie may student loan in 1985. She made payments on it but got behind then the funds were collected from her tax returns but were paid in full in 1997. Two years later she gets notices from a different collection agency for the same loan. Contact EDU. Gov and was told there were no outstanding loans for her social security number. Even got the tax Payer advocate involved to prove what was withheld from the tax returns.

Requests To Nco Finacial and Collection technology for proof were ignored by them. And when proof was provided to them of payments made we would not hear from them again, but it would not be long before we would get a letter from different collection agency. Recently we received a letter from National payment center wanting to collect as if no payment was ever made on the loan. When trying to have a reasonable conversation with any of these people they do not want to solve the issue they only want to take money and ignore everything else. With todays technology this kind of misrepresentation, (claiming of debt that has been paid) should not be happening.
