Ripoff I got a letter from them too about old debt with a creditor I don't recognize

My husband got a suspicious letter from RJM too, dated March 21, saying that they had purchased his acct. From a creditor, which he doesn't even think he ever had... The creditor does not appear on either of our credit reports. They are alledging he owes over $1000 and the debt is about 15 years old.
As others have said here, I called RJM (got through to them the first try though). The girl who answered the phone didn't sound very professional, but she asked the same question she asked others here, about a previous address. Since it was my husband's acct. She said he would have to call and would not give any information.
After all that I am reading here, RJM sounds like a shady business... Has anyone reported them to authorities? What scares me is that some people have had them show up on the credit report and I hope this doesn't happen (if it hasn't already) to ruin our good credit.
