Scam indangering my chance of employment with the government!

I recently applied for a job with the government and had to have my credit checked. I received a letter from my prespective employer asking me to explain why my debt to Portfolio Acquisition in the amount of $417.00 was not paid. The report shows a company called HOLIDAY with an accout last active on 08/07. I haven't a clue as to what that is and do not owe any creditor $417.00. This scam may possibly ruin my chance of employment! I have written letters to Equifax, Transunion and Experian disputing this debt and asking that it be immediatly removed from my credit report. I also informed them of the ripoff web site to which others who have been scamed by this company give there testamony.
