Harassing phone calls, multiple times a day ripoff

Recently, since the new year, i have started receiving phone calls on my cell phone from an "unknown" number. When I answer the phone it is a recording, telling me it is a business call and I am to stay on the line until someone can get back to me. At first I would just hang up, and not worry about it.

After 3 days of this, I went to my dad (as any self-respecting college student would do) and explained the problem, telling him that the one time I spoke with an agent, they had asked for him. I explained to the person that it was not his cell phone, that it was his daughters cell phone, and to please stop calling. I said he didn't have a cell phone (he does) so if they wanted to reach him they should call his office, that they should have that number if they had "his" cell phone.

My dad told me that it probably had something to do with debt collectors, because he was the president of a company that went under 8 YEARS ago. There was a lot of issue with paying the debts, going to court and things like that to get the OWNER of the company to pay. My dad said everything was taken care of and that if it was a legit claim they would be contacting him through letters and such... Whoever is calling, i should just ignore them.

After I said it wasn't his phone, the calls stopped, for about a week. Then I started getting them more and more frequently, up to 6 times in a day. The second time I finally spoke to someone I explained the situation AGAIN, the they told me that they were recently doing business with my dad and that he gave the number as a contact number. I know that's a lie, and we are on a family share contract for our phones, under my dad's name, but for some reason my phone number has always showed up as the primary number. So I want to know how these people got my cell phone number, unless the cell phone company sold it to them?

They still continue to call me non-stop and they TOLD me that they had "updated their files" to say not to call my number anymore. I'm at a loss as to what to do at this point.
