Ripoff non stop phone calls harassment

Many searches have led me to believe that the non-stop phone calls I have received on my cell phone are from NCO Financial, based on what I have found on internet searches and on this website.

Months ago, I received a call on my cell phone. The screen simply said "CALL" and "{No Number}" was listed on my call logs. There was silence at first, and then an automated recorded machine stating that I have an "important message" and to call 1-800-933-6736 extension 6013". It proceeds to give me an ID code. I hang up, first - because I figure it is a wrong number, and second - because the message seemed a little fishy. Nowhere in the message do they state who the caller is, or what company it is, or what the message is in regards to.

Since answering that call, I have received non-stop phone calls to my cell phone. For fear of using my minutes up, I do not answer. My "Missed Calls" log shows "{No Number}" and under call times, so many calls that most have been automatically deleted.

I receive the calls at all times of day, mostly between 10 AM and 3 PM, sometimes later in the evening, or earlier in the morning. Many times, the phone is not left to ring the full four rings: an example of the harassing call times:

11:43: 06 AM - phone rings twice
11:43: 11 AM - phoen rings a half-ring
11:43: 11 AM - phone rings 1.5 rings
11:45: 34 AM - phone rings twice

I will receive anywhere between one and 5-6 calls in the short amount of time of 2 minutes. Since I never answer the no-number calls, I will then receive voicemails (partially cut off, as the message starts before the voicemail records) repeating the same message: to call 1-800-933-6736 extension 6013 and then it gives me the same ID code.

I have searched on the internet and the only lead I have found is NCO Financial Systems, which apparently also uses this 1-800 number. I have never spoken to anyone from this company, nor do I know who they are, or where they are located - the only info I have found is from other reports on this website.

I am still young — I'm a student, I do not own a credit card, I am not in debt, and I do not owe anyone money. My parents have excellent credit.

I also NEVER use my cell phone number as contact information for anything - and I never give it out. I do not know how these people have received my number or why they continue to call me over and over. I get the calls while I am in class or while I am sleeping, etc. Very very annoying. I do not know if the previous owner of my phone number (I've only had it for a year) is a debt-holder.

I have already called AT&T/Cingular, my cell phone provider, about blocking this phone number.instead, they told me to add the number to my restricted incoming call list, but that is of no use because that phone number is only in the message they provide me with in voicemail. The actual incoming calls are NOT blocked or private, but simply just say "Call/No Number". I do not know the source of these calls, and Cingular will not go into their own records to find this information and block it for me.

I would like very much for these harassing calls to stop. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
