Terroristic Threats? I think it was! What would you call it?

Business & Finance

It would take me several hours I don't have the time to spend today to go into detail about the numerous complaints I have about Vanderbilt Mortgage Company.

But one of the latest complaints involves what I feel was a terroristic threat. What would you call it?

I have an extensive history of medical problems including a mild heart attack in the fall of 2005 that took me almost a year to recover from, severe Fibromyalgia, and chronic depression in addition to even more problems.

I'm also the care giver for my adult disabled daughter who has multiple complications from brain tumors over the last 23 years.

Both of us are greatly affected by extreme temperatures; either when it is too hot or too cold.in her case extreme temperatures could be life threatening.

I don't remember the exact details for this particular incident; I'm pretty sure at the time I had missed one month's payment and was due to pay a second month as well. I think it was late June; and it was HOT outside.

At the time, I was unaware of the Kentucky Repo laws and therefore believed the threat. I was told by "Linda" something to the effect of "You have seven (?) days to get caught up or you are going to find yourself out in the heat." "Linda" was very well aware of mine and my daughter's health histories.

Our health histories have been discussed repeatedly with "Linda" and other Reps over the last couple of years due to intermittent problems with being unable to make payments on time due to multiple health and financial problems.

Being told by the Rep that she is aware of our situation but that "She has a job to do" in my book does not make it okay to use terrorist threats to get payment for a loan.

Vanderbilt was well aware of my depression. Granted Vanderbilt did not make me depressed initially; but, there have been several times where the thought of harming myself popped into my mind after being verbally abused by Vanderbilt Customer "Service" Reps.

Many, many times, the resulting stress from their phone calls left me unable to function for several hours or days even; which also interfered with me giving my daughter the care she deserved. Being unable to care for my daughter as I should could easily be life threatening for her.

In addition, VMF threats made my daughter's depression worse as well. She has been through enough he* trying to stay alive; including approximately 42 surgeries and countless medical procedures.

The last time "Linda" managed to get a hold of me at my new number after calling my relatives (including my ex) she asked if I was still living in the home. I responded "Yes". She asked "What are you waiting for?" I hung up.

If I NEVER EVER speak to "Linda" or anyone else from VMF, it will be an ultimate blessing!

BTW, I had already left my home when Linda talked to me last.

Facing Vanderbilt, another cold and dreary Kentucky winter that make both constant physical pain and ongoing mental pain much worse, and the dealing with ongoing financial problems would have most likely put me in a psychiatric hospital or my grave.

No I'm NOT exaggerating. I mean all of this story from the bottom of my heart.

While I am glad I am no longer subject to such depressing winters, I regret I did not handle the situation with VMF differently. How? I'm not sure. I'm still trying to recover from the depression VMF made a LOT, LOT worse. It's been months since my move and I still am unable to function normally on a daily basis.

In NO WAY, shape, or form would I suggest anyone get a mortgage with this company. Also, BTW, Oakwood initially gave me the loan; NOT VMF.

Oh another complaint I have against Vanderbilt...

Being repeatedly told you are going to be evicted; but not being given the REQUESTED legal paperwork REQUIRED to get assistance from public helping agencies. No documentation meant NO HELP and more abusive phone calls from Vanderbilt.

One of the times I asked for NEEDED documentation so I could get assistance paying my payments, I was told" We'll send you some paperwork all right". We'll send you a letter saying that the entire balance of your loan is due (over $7,000 at the time).

I read in another complaint and also experienced it myself more than once. If I didn't agree to meet VMF demands exactly I was told that a note would be put in the record that I refused to make a payment; when in reality I offered to make at least half of a payment or even an entire month's payment one or two days after "their" cutoff date for payment.

I also contacted agencies that helped people facing foreclosure. I was told that 95 out of 100 mortgage companies will work with them (the mediator) and the person needing help. There was about five companies of the 100 that would not work with the mediator. One of those is Vanderbilt.

Buyer beware!!!
