Fraudulent billing, company won't do anything

We had a credit card from Bank of America for $1000 dollars. This was account was opened about 1990. We still are in debt at $2921.46 in the year 2006. We have for the last 2 years had an automatic payment taken from our bank account to pay the monthly bill.

We have never received any statements and thought because the automatic payments were being made that everything was being taken care of. Until yesterday when a statement came from them and it showed that they are charging us late fees every months in the amount of $35. How can we be late when they take the money out every month?

We called them and the person we spoke to was very unsimpathic and basically told us. We are giving them $70 dollars every month, but our bill gets higher every month. She kept saying we missed all these payments, but how when they take it every month?

So the way it looks this debt will never be payed off until were dead. Company will not make arrangements for us to get this paid off. They are continuing to charge interest on top of interest and late fees. They are stealing our $70 a month.
