Business & Finance

I recieved a phone call from from Apex Mortgage Company in April. The rep told me they found my resume on careerbuilder and thought I might be interested in a position as a loan officer in the center city philadelphia area. I did not want to waste my time with sales gigs so I ask how much does the job pay? She said a monthy 1,000 salary plus commission so I said okay.

I went in for the interview with a man named David Wright. He then told me that the 1,000 salary was only good for one month and after that you make commission... If not "you don't eat" was his words. So he told me he had another position he thought was good for me, a loan processor. I said I have no experience with this. He said it was okay. They would offer me hands on training but he said I would have to work for one week free to see if it works out. And if so I would recieve a salary of $30,000 dollars a year.

Well, I had a job at the time and the thought of working for free didn't sit well so he said he would pay me six bucks an hour for one week to train to be a loan processor. I thought this was a good opportunity to expand my horizons so I quit my job to work there.

Okay so I start and nothing was the way he made it seem. I sat in an office with a supervisor who did not train me to do ANYTHING! I asked and asked and all he would have me do once in a blue was faxed papers. I was learning nothing. The manager told me how he fired so many people because they did not do anything... I wonder why nobody trained them. I was left alone alot while they took smoke breaks and I tried to figure things out on my own.

The company was falling apart, Little did I know the company in center city had only been open for a month and he had already hired and fired so many people. He fired all of the telemarketers he could not afford to pay them. Then he offered me a position as the receptionist. I declined at first he told me I would be trained as a loan processor but that never happened. He told me I would still make 30,000 a year being the receptionist, I could process loans, and be a loan officer all at the same time and make a lot of money. So I agreed but when it came down to money he didn't do it for me. He lied about the date I was going to be paid. He said the 15th and 30th then he would switch and say other dates he would say he would pay me one day and not show up for work. Finally when he did pay me... After my one week trial I thought I was on my salary. He writes me a personal check from his own account for 400.00 and I had worked a whole three weeks!

I disputed the amount. I told you what the orignal agreement was and he said no receptionist get paid 20,000 a year salary. But I worked for 3 weeks and I recieve only 400 bucks plus its not even a company check? He lied about everything, my job title how much I was to be paid and all the men that worked there were perverts! I recieved no training for anything and so I took my 400 bucks and quit! I called a few months later just to see if the doors where still open and they're phones were disconnected they were closed. I am happy about it.
