Ripoff Attempting to recollect on closed accounts

On March 3 I made an agreement with a John Buckner from the Sure Tech Recovery, LLC to take care of an overdue account. After talking with him I agreed to pay $1066 of the $7104.53 due on my account. The agreement was that 6 Payments of $178 would be made on the 27th of each month.in the signed letter it stated that "Upon receipt of settlement the above party will have no further obligation to Triad Financial on this account." I offered to pay half the amount up front and to break the remainder up over 5 months. Mr. Buckner said that he would have to check with Triad and get their approval. They agreed and the aragements were set. It sounded like a fair exchange so payments were made on the following days for the following amounts:

4-7-06 $150.00
5-3-06 $100.00
6-2-06 $100.00
8-2-06 $100.00
Total — $1066.00

All fine and good...

Until Today.

Today I got a letter from a Grace Kelly From Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, LLC. It state that they are offering a settlement for the uncollected amount on the ballance of $6110.96 and that if I send $1833.28 by 12/24/06 then the account would be settled. My wife then called and was THREATENED with I would be arrested, and they would take my house and my vehicles, and they would attach my wages if it wasn't taken care of. My wife then called me and I called Ms. Kelly. She told me the same thing and then put me in touch with their lawyer. The lawyer told me to do whatever I had to to get this taken care of. Whether it was selling old ball cards on e-bay or deferring my mortgage, or borrow from friends or family whatever I have to do. He also stated that Triad never gave Sure Tech or any other company permission to attempt to collect, I asked him if he had permission, and to hium thta I wanted to talk to his Triad connection to confirm this was the real thing, he responded with, "They won't talk to you." No agreement was made and I am looking into the matter. I tried calling Sure Tech and the three numbers are all disconnected. I think that like in other reports that I have read that Triad keeps selling it's closed accounts rather than meeting their end of the aggrement.
