I acquired a Dell laptop last year around October. With this laptop I received 6 months of free aol. After the 6 months I was charged on my credit card for each month.
I continually saw charges being applied to my credit card. I never saw any piece of information nor phone calls saying that my account was past due.
On Saturday, October 7th I received this letter from NCO stating that I have been sent to collections for $99.60. It would be one thing if I had received some sort of notice stating that my bill was past due. Unfortunately, I never received a thing from AOL. I had changed addresses around 3 months ago.
MY mail was forwarded to my new address. This statement from NCO shows my old addresss. I am pretty skeptical about this collection agency. I have read other reports that this has happened to other people.
If the debt is really mine, I would pay it to AOL. I pay my bills and would not let something so little be sent to collections. My account # with AOL is 58*.
I would appreciate it if someone could let me know what I need to do next in order to get this cleared. I do not want to ruin my credit over some b.S. Please let me know what you can do.
Thanks
