A representative called me regarding a Mastercard and stated I would be billed a $19.95 fee from my checking account. The representative stated I would be given the opportunity to review the terms of the Mastercard and THEN be given the opportunity to accept or decline.
I specifically asked that no more than $19.95 would be withdrawn from my checking account. The rep adamantly assured me that only the $19.95 would be withdrawn. If I agreed to the terms THEN a fee of $99.95 and $59.95 would be billed to the Mastercard.
On June 6 I received a phone card which stated that after a ten day free trial I would be billed $54.90 monthly. I immediately called and spoke to Elizabeth and told her I did not agree to that and I wanted no part of it. I told her I had only agreed to a one time fee of $19.95.
I was given a confirmation number and told I would not be billed.
Today I noticed my checking account balance was missing approx. $160. I obtained a bank statement and noticed to automatic withdrawals, one for $99.95 and $59.95.
I was given a phone number by the bank. I called between 12pm and 12:30 pm and was told they were experiencing a high call volume and would return my call. I called four more times and was told the same thing. I requested to speak to a Supervisor and was told they were also busy returning calls.
Seven hours after my first call, no has yet to call me back. This is definitely a scam and I don't intend to sit back and let them get away with it.
