Pentagroup Financial
A general question about legalities of suing me. Ripoff

Business & Finance

Here is my situation in a nutshell:

My fiancee had a car repossessed last year. I do not know the particulars of why it was reposessed, other than obvious non-payment.

About 2 months ago, she was contacted by Pantagroup Financial about the balance of the debt. She got all of the information, and told them to send her validation of the debt. She has still received no validation.

Last month, they began talking to me, at her behest, regarding this bill. They wanted me to send them 6 post dated checks from my account for $250 each. Now, I am not the brightest person in the world, but I do know that I wouldnt give my own mother 6 post dated checks for $250, much less a collection agency. They then asked if I would put the entire debt on my credit card. I refused this as well, as I have plenty of my own debt without adding hers.

Today, I receive a phone call from Pentagroup Financial, telling me that since I won't agree to pay her bill, that I need to have my attorney contact them. Again, I am not the brightest crayon in the box, but I am pretty sure I cannot legally be sued for someone elses debt.

Is there any way that I can counter sue them for Unlawful Prosecution or something of that nature? I am just having a hard time understanding how they justify filing suit against me, because I won't pay her debt? We are not married, and only her name was on the car contract.

So, what can I do?
