American Express
STEALING from consumers

Business & Finance

Hello All,

Let me desrcribe a current situation I just encountered with AMEX. I reviewed my March statment and saw a late fee of $35.00 charged for a late Feb payment.

Here's the kicker - The payment was due 2/12/06. Printed right in the "Activity" section of the statement, The posting date was 2/11/06. Yet, further down in the activity section was a late fee posted on 2/14/06.

Lets do the math: Due on 2/12/06
Posted 2/11/06

By my math, it was posted a day BEFORE it was due, therefore how can there be a LATE charge?

When I called and questioned the fee and told the CSR they were stealing money from me, she said it was a "system error" and she "understood my complaint".

So if this "system error" happend to me, how many other thousands of people did it happen to who won't notice the late charge fee and just pay the bill? Do you really think AMEX is going to go back and correct all of these "system errors"? ABSOLUTELY NOT! They reversed mine, but I had to make a call and question the late fee.

Just a warning to all - Review your CC statements.

Best Regards to all
