Southtrust Wachovia
Rip Off on NSF fees

Business & Finance

My husband and I have banked with Southtrust for years. We've had relatively few problems that were not our own fault. One granted, was huge as it was 400 dollars and checks were sent to DA's office, but when I got my books against theirs they found the problem and resolved all issues surrounding. Never happend again.

Well, since Wachovia took over, several things have changed to our disliking. All of a sudden, a loan my husband took out twice with Southtrust against a cd... Wachovia refused to allow him the loan again.

Now our biggest problem. First time it happend Target posted a transaction with a different number than when they origional did the transaction so 128 was posted twice but came out once. Because it held the 128 several things bounced. Well, they fixed that by refunding but only after two days of headaches because with them not correcting it due to their fax machine not working, more things bounced, so they had even more to refund for a total of 90 dollars.

Now, my husband accidently went 1.84 over his account. No big deal, we'll pay the 30, our screw up. Wrong. They charged him 60 dollars. They bounced a 5 dollar transaction that was clear to go through. Even shows positive after that transaction and that night all was well. When the next one hit that was 1.84 over, and we expected to get hit the 30 dollars, we were ok with that, we understood it was our fault. It charged him TWICE. So, to this point we've not used his account any further and not deposited anything until they straighten it out. We'll pay our 30, but not 60. When this happend we looked at what happend before. Whereas Southtrust always went by your current balance, Wachovia obviously goes by the available balance so that NSF's go through even before deposits. So they don't care if you deposit money in to cover it, they're going to charge you anyhow. It's confusing to the point I have a headache, so I hope I've made it clear what happend. At any rate, noone can give me this bs about reading company policy. We only have Southtrust to go by, we've received NOTHING from Wachovia about new policies. It appears that they're going to change how they bank before putting the signs up and going full blown "Wachovia" and before giving us new policies.

So, needles to say, we're going to another bank. Oh, and this one actualy refunds atm fees from other banks when you have to use an out of network atm! Proven through friends that have banked with them for years.
