Wachovia Bank
Will steal your money, ripoff. They run a scam to cover what they call "free checking"

Business & Finance

Wachovia offers "free" checking however, once your account drops to a low balance or gets overdrawn, the checkcard/debitcard will allow you to continue making purchases, never declining a single purchase while the bank pops you with a $30 fee per transaction. If this happens during a period after you've made a deposit and you assume the deposit has cleared (even cash), you can overdraw your account and not even know it.

I made a cash deposit in the morning, thinking my money was available, I used my card as did my husband. Before we knew it, we were up to $300.00 in fees charged. A week later, after another cash deposit, we were into it for another $300.00.

I called customer service and the representatives are so unbelievably nasty. I was informed it was my responsibility to know my balance, however it is not their responsibility to post my cash deposit as a CASH deposit.

I called the manager of this local branch and she explained to me how the card will not decline ("unfortunately" she says) and to the customers detriment, can continue to make purchases despite being well into the negative. I'm seeing red. I don't know how these thieves sleep at night.
