Ripoff crazy collection agency West Paterson New Jersey

I received a letter from this company today July 25 dated July 22 requesting payment on a debt from Chase providian for a total amount of over $11,000!! I tried calling this company to find out what this was all about because the account number listed was nothing similar to the present day accounts I have with Chase.

A very ignorant & nasty man starting yelling trying to make me state I was refusing to pay this debt and the only information I did get from him was that this debt was from 1990!! I have not heard from this creditor since then being that in 1993 that debt was resolved. And I also have quite a few new accounts with Chase presently.

I had also requested a copy of my credit report approx. 3 months ago becuase I am thinking of purchasing a home and wanted to check that everything was reported correctly and there was nothing delinquent or past due on it. No past due account with Chase was listed nor any collection accounts.

I am sending a certified letter today as advised on another similar issue with this company. I don't understand how they can come and claim rights to a debt from that long ago besides the fact that it was resolved in 93.

I am also worried that this will have an affect on my home purchase which I would like to do very soon.
