Not Compliant with Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act. Nothing short of a FINANCIAL TERRORIST agency!

We bought our house in 1999 with a mortgage from First Union, and Homeq bought the loan a few months later; this company is nothing short of a FINANCIAL TERRORIST agency!

We have had some problems with this company before (losing our payments), but the real evil of this company came after I joined the Air Force in January. We rented our house at that time and moved to my first duty station. Our renter left after nine months making it financially difficult to pay the mortgage (we were late twice). I applied for debt relief in accordance with the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act of 1940, requiring creditors to lower interest on pre-existing debt obligations to 6% while a person performs military service. I sent the application paperwork that Homeq requested three times before I finally got an answer 2 months later—I was denied relief because they said I wasn't on active duty!

I took this written response to my JAG officer (military attorney)
who wrote them a letter confirming my service status and reminding them of their OBLIGATION to comply with the law. So far, no response from Homeq.

Since it is Homeq's obligation to prove in court their position that I am not eligible for financial relief, and since they are notorious slow to respond to my inquiries, I believe I may just stop paying the mortgage altogether.

Then maybe they will take me to court, and then my civilian attorney (who is ex military JAG) will thoroughly eat their lunch. Could be fun... I'll keep all you loyal Homeq fans posted.
