Ripoff telephone scam credit card freedom financial

Some guy named Henry called saying I was approved for a Visa card that would improve my credit rating and was risk free. This company, Freedom Financial, would report my credit to all 3 credit buerros monthly and verify that all the information is correct with them. I would pay $200 through direct debit and then recieve 4 $50 gift certificates to be used for payment on the card. He then asked for my routing and account number from my check. I said I felt uncomfortable giving it out over the telephone. He responded that it was the same thing as Check 21, just verifying that account was present and in good standing.

Several weeks later, I recieved a single page in the mail asking me to sign this form to authorize the transactions (which had already cleared my bank) and the terms on the back mentioned a "merchant account".

I serched the internet to try to find more information and found this site and hundreds of reports on this company.

Today, I called the number on this website for the company and they said to send a letter asking for a refund and cancelation of my account. I thought I'd post the report first for documentation.
