I stopped payment on 13 Oct and recieved a letter from Anderson, Randolf, Price, LLC on 2 Nov ripoff

On 29 Sept 06, I recieved a call at work saying that I had been approved by Freedom Financial and Financial Advisors and Associates that I was approved for a credit card through their company to help me rebuild my credit. My credit had took a recent hit so I was happy that someone was willing to help me better it.

My plan was to go out, buy a few things on the card, make two payments and then pay the balance so that it would look good on my credit report. However, after I did everything with them from bank information and getting an ID number, something told me to come online and look the company up. I ran across a few of these reports and called and told them to cancel my order.

I called my bank and put in a stop payment on the check which I knew was coming 13 Oct 06. I had to pay 25.00 but I would rather pay that than the 250.00 they tried to scam out of me.

So time goes by, not a word from Freedom Financial. They have my work and cell phone number as well as my address. On 2 November I get a formal demand notice from Anderson, Randolf, Price, LLC, which is located at 10039 Bissonnet, Suite 385, Houston, TX 77036, phone numbers 713-776-3415 or 866-776-3415 demanding I pay $145.00 to them via Western Union.

I call them at 5:02pm. A guy picks up the phone and I ask him what the letter is about about. He tells me that Freedom Financial has forwarded my account to him. I told him that Freedom Financial was a RIP OFF company and that I had stopped my payment to them BEFORE they sent me anything so why did I owe them anything. He said that it was a fee for cancelling the things with Freedom and his firms legal fee was tacked on.

I told him the only thing I had done was talk to them, they hadn't sent a package or anything, just talked to them and that I didn't want anything to do with them. He asked me why I thought that and I referred him to this website.

He told me that if I didn't pay them they were going to put this on my credit report and that it didn't look good on the report to have a negative report from a second chance credit place.

Yeah I'll admit I got rude and nasty with him and told him that I would talk to Freedom Financial myself, because for one I shouldn't have had to hear about any quitting fee from him, if Freedom wanted to charge me they should have manned up and sent me the letter but they didn't. Secondly, I wanted to let them know how much of a coward they were to their faces so I inpolitely hung up on him.

I called Freedom Financial at 5:11pm on 2 Nov and ofcourse got their very familiar answering machine. I left them a very pissed off message with my name and number and once again I'm waiting on them to call me.
