Ripoff put hold on my account without cause

Through a mixup at the ATM, a deposit I was making to my savings account didn't get put into the envelope as it should have been. I didn't think anything of it because the bank never attempted to contact me, until I went to deposit my paycheck through the ATM. The bank manager said that she didn't know why my card wouldn't be working, and told me to leave it in the night deposit box. Since I had to have my money, I went to a check cashing place instead.

Another couple of weeks went by, and still no contact from the bank. I went to a branch and deposited money with a teller. When she gave me my receipt with my balance written on it, I remembered the mistake, but again, I didn't think much of it because the teller didn't say anything to me.

Last week, I attempted to take out some money at the ATM, and it kept telling me that my transaction could not be processed. I called the automated customer service number, and it told me my balance, and it said that there were no available funds in my account (this was 3 weeks after making the deposit with the teller.) So, the next day, I called and spoke to a representative. She looked at my account, and told me that I needed to speak with Loss Prevention. A couple of hours after leaving a message with the woman I was transferred to, a man called me back from the bank. He asked me why there was a hold on my account. When I told him that I didn't really KNOW why, he proceeded to raise his voice to me, and talk to me like I was a child. He told me that it was a crime to put an empty deposit envelope into an ATM machine. After listening to him rant and rave, he said that he would lift the hold on my account, after telling me that if something like this happened again, he would close my account. The next day, I tried my card, and it still didn't work. I walked over to the branch, and filled out a withdrawal slip and walked up to the teller. She had to call the corporate office, because the hold was still on my account. Twenty minutes later, I left with my money. I was told that I couldn't make deposits through an ATM for 6 months.

They really don't have to worry about that, as I don't intend to make any more deposits at their bank.
