Bank One
Bank Won! At my expense. Charged $250 termination fee on increasing home equity credit line even though I asked point blank what costs were and this was never mentioned. Ripoff!

Business & Finance

When I increased my Home Equity Line of Credit I asked Bank One what the costs would be and they said only $15. They would close the old line and open a new line.

A month later my statement says $250 termination fee. I complained about this and they said my question about costs only included the new line and I was disclosed this info almost 3 years ago when I opened up my old ine. I said this is the exact same type of instrument and my question by definition refers to both loans. Isn't the bank supposed to know about their loans more than I do.

I complained upstairs to her branch manager - no help. I went to the district manager - no help. I spoke to Bank One chairman's office. They investigated and said they couldn't refund my fee. They suggested I put my complaint in writing to the chairman's office but they said this still wouldn't get my money back.

I can't rely on Bank One even when I ask them a question point blank. This is wholly unethical.
