Monique Rini Lied Mortgage Scam Decptive Banking Practices Ripoff

I was purchasing a house in Old Bridge, NJ through my wife's realtor friend Rosa Sands. Rosa recommended a friend of hers for our mortgage named Monique Rini, (US Mortgage). We had provided her with the necessary information and were approved for the mortgage. When I received the fee disclosure statement I felt it was way too much so I called my bank which is Commerce bank. Commerce's fees and APR were a lot less. I called Monique and told her if she could not match Commerce's offer than I was going to use Commerce for my mortgage. She stated that the form we received was standard and not to worry because she was going to waive the 1% loan discount fee of $1550.00 and the application fee of $295.00 and the rate would be between 6.25 and 6.5%.
I was satisfied and trusted her because she was a friend of my wife's friend Rosa.

On Nov. 17th when we were in closing I noticed the fees had not been removed and the rate was 6.75%. I attempted reach Monique to fix the problem. She was supposedly on vacation, but was reached by her manager and called me back. She stated at that time that her manager would not let her waive the fees. I asked her why I was never informed that the fees were not being waived, but she had no answer. I argued with her and made no progress at all. I was forced to accept the contract because the seller needed the money to close on their new house the same day.

I was misled by Monique Rini and US Mortgage and was left to believe that the $1550 & $295 were being removed and that the rate would be no more than 6.5%, until it was too late to do anything about it. This was an obvious ploy to prevent me from going elsewhere for my mortgage and I believe they never intended to waive the fees. I am in the progress of refinancing through another lender and would like to recover the fees paid to US Mortgage. I also intend to file complaints with State and Federal banking agencies in regards to this fraudulent transaction.
