As to the pell grant being changed to a student loan I would have the bank check it out. Every loan or legal paper signed by you cannot be altered unless you yourself sign the paperwork. A Pell Grant is a lump of money given will attending college. Check with the financial aid office as well for original paperwork. Van Ru may have no claim to a loan you did not sign for. They also take old debts that are past there statute of limitation and try to collect. Keep on eye on when you last paid on a debt and see if they have a legitimate claim.
