I have an ULTA club membership card and have purchased hundreds of dollars worth of products at ULTA over the years. Today, 03-23-10, I returned a bottle of shampoo for an even exchange; same product name (Biolage) just different category of shampoo this was at ULTA at the Glen in Glenview IL. The salesperson asked me for my home phone number, I told her as I always do, that I don't give it out. I then gave her my debit card; she told me that I had to give her my driver's license which she wrote down, now more of personal ID is out there, an additional invasion of my privacy. This again was for an even exchange with no amount due. Had there not been a long line behind me, I would have asked for the manager. I did ask for the sales person's name; she said Holly although the receipt says Dorothy.
I am insulted and angry about this sort of treatment at ULTA. I have never received this kind of rude and arrogant behavior before at ULTA. This salesperson just wanted to show me that she had the upper hand in the situation. Is this a new policy of how to treat repeat customers at ULTA? Management should look into this and I would appreciate some feedback on the situation.
