Cashier charged $2.40 for two drinks priced at 99 cents

I purchased two Arizona drinks at a Mobil gas station and the cashier charged me $2.40.
In California the Arizona drink doesn't have tax, just CRV.
The drink already has the price printed on the can, which is 99 cents plus CRV.
Which makes the total $1.09 each, so $2.18 for two drinks.
Can they do that?
And I asked for a receipt and
the receipt doesn't have the name of the item they purchased, it just said "nontax" $2.40
and the cashier refused to give his name.
It is not about the money.
So you tell me that they can charge whatever they want regardless of the price printed on the can?
