Fedex lost my package

Fedex lost all of my tax information that I was sending to our CPA which included three 1099 forms, all of my investment information, SS numbers my wifes's business information, my business information, bank account information etc. This was shipped in a FEDEX Box 17 x 12 x 3 and was being shipped 40 miles from Allen TX to Grapevine TX.
The box was scanned onto the truck at the Irving TX center but never reached my CPA.
FEDEX gave me all kinds of excuses and it is apparent that they do not hold anybody responsible for a lost package. I really don't think it could have been lost if you know what I mean. Now I have to worry about the possibility of identity theft.
