Comcast
What an outfit

My local cable company, Insight was sold out to Comcast. I had Insight service for a number of years and never had any problems to amount to anything with them.insight service was just as fast as Comcast service, Insight treated their customers fairly and gave a free and unlimited news groups to their subscribers, (a nice perk.) I had even beta tested Insights cable internet phone service for them when they first brought it out. Upon Insight being sold out to Comcast I started checking the net and saw all sorts of horror stories about Comcast and their business practices. I discovered that they were downloading bogus packets to users who were downloading music from p2p sites in an attempt to block them from downloading any music at all. After Comcast finally took over they were giving a free subscription to one of the pay news group servers of two gigabytes a month and after several months of that they notified all their subscribers that they weren't going to do that any longer and if you wanted news groups you would have to subscribe to a paid news group server. As far as their cable tv service they recently started deleting channels and moving them up to a paid tier of service and not replacing the channels they removed with anything else. The channels they do have are all crap channels whom no one would want in the first place and the channels they do have for programs and movies repeat the same programs and movies over and over again endlessly. Comcast has an attitude that their customers are their chattel and don't give a good fig about customer service, satisfaction or anything else. They think that they can just shove down the paying consumers throat any crap that they want to and so what about it since the consumer can't do anything about it anyway. They are a greedy money grubbing company that are only concerned about their own bandwidth and know nothing about the concept of net neutrality and they will do anything to anyone to advance their own narrow minded business agenda. A true example of the philosophy that their company sprang up from the ground like dragons teeth fully grown and that their paid subscribers had absolutely nothing or no part at all in making them the giant monolith that they have become. Their attitude of screw their own subscribers at every opportunity is more than appaling and verging on the criminal as far as i'm concerned. Comcast is a perfect example of a big bureocracy that is so enamored of it's own petty rules and regulations that it simply ignores the good will of those customers who made them what they are.
It did my heart good when the FCC ruled and came down on them for trying to limit customers from downloading music. You still have to keep and eye on them though, they're slipery and deceptive and still have many more dirty tricks to spring on their subscribers up their sleeve and in their bag full of dirty tricks. If I had any other alternative to Comcast due to the location that I live in Comcast would be a bad memory in my household. Sincerly DrDisk
