BAD Audio again - Cable TV

From time to time the audio goes bad on our cable. It is broken and scratchy and mainly unintelligible. Usually rebooting the receiver will fix but sometimes not. It has been infrequent until the past few days and is becoming a serious bother since it has happened several times in 2 days. Rebooting your receivers takes an inordinate amount of time. It here any possibility of resolving this?
