I booked a room on line through Expedia. I never received confirmation, so a day before I left I booked a room at the same hotel through hotels.com because that came up when I put Expedia in a search engine. They are the same company. Get to hotel, I have 2 rooms instead of one booked. Not a problem, just call Expedia to cancel one room. Did that, things seem just fine. Get credit card bill and have 2 room prices billed to me for same room. Customer service is a joke. Epedia tells me to call hotels.com and vise versa. I've spent hours on phone, waiting, getting hung up on, repeating my self over and over, and getting no help. The kicker is, expedia billed me $86, hotels.com billed me $95, and I could have gotten the room just walking in off the street for $65. What a joke. I will never use Expedia or hotels.com again. If something gets screwed up it will not get fixed.
