Ripoff -$149 fee-products arrived after "30day" cancellation period

I was contacted on 5/5-04 by Capital Vacations and the Travl Agency Network with multiple offers which I declined except for the "free" trial period of T.A.N.

By 05-19-04 I had not received anything from them but noticed that $149 had been debited to my bank account. I called them immediately ad was given a cancellation code and advised that the "Autosystem" was "down" and I needed to call back or send a letter. The representative did not indicate that I had a time frame for sending the letter and foolishly I assumed that once the cancellation and request for refund was made on the phone that it would be expedited.

I finally rec'd the info package on June 15/04 and only then realized that my membership may not have been cancelled. I then wrote a letter to TAN and requested a full refund.

I called today Sept 24/04 and am now told that it is too late to get a refund b/c it has been more than 30 days from the cancellation date.

I am contacting them again by registered letter and will contact my bank, and file with small claims court.in addition, I will find out who can present a bill into legislation (for NC and suggest the same for all states) to stop this reverse advertising—I know it has been done in Ontario, Canada and I am going to find out how! That would mean that everything you get as a free trial would only be charged if you do contact them in "7 days" not if you do not... We are all too busy to keep up with this b.S.
