Checked into boardwalk inns and suites, 301 south atlantic ave, daytona beach, fl on april 5, in hopes of having a relaxing week at the beach. We had just driven 14 hours from ky. Was promised a clean, insect free room. (original reservation was with a different hotel in daytona beach, after check in, discovered roaches and checked out. My friends child is severely allergic to cockroach allergens. She develops severe asthma attacks when exposed to airborne allergens and suffers from serious atopic dermatitis if her skin is exposed to them). After check-in at boardwalk inns and suites, went to dinner, returned close to midnight, to find bathroom infested with roaches. Immediately packed belongings, told attendant at front desk what the problem was. Went to look for a different room in area-most were sold out due to the nca/nda collegiate cheer and dance championships (which is the event we were in town for) called on wednesday, april 6th at 10:57 am to get a confirmation that i wouldn't be charged for tuesday nights stay-considering we were forced to find other accommodations after midnight on tuesday. Was told the 'manager' wasn't in. Left name and contact # for him to return my call. Never received call. Called again thursday, april 7,11:42 am-again he wasn't there-requested that he return my call. Never received call. Called friday, april 8th, at 10:41 am and 11:16 am-once again requesting the manager (who yet once again, was not available) to contact me regarding my request. At 11:50 am tried again and finally got to speak to dave, the manager. I kindly and calmly repeated my complaint and my request for a confirmation that i would not be responsible for any of the expense of the reservation-one that could not be carried out because of circumstances beyond my control. I was told that i would be charged for one complete nights stay ($99.00 tax) for the few hours we were there between check-in and the time we discovered the cockroach infestation. The charge was charged to my mastercard account i had given them at check-in.
As a consumer, i feel i am entitled to a refund of any charges acquired from this hotel reservation, because of false affirmation from boardwalk inns and suites that room was clean and insect free.
