Hotwire
Deceptive star rating and price

Traveling & Tourism

I was totally deceived by Hotwire. I booked a hotel room in Savannah, GA. Hotwire displayed $115 (at other sites)$66 hotwire (Great Deal checkmark) and a 3 Star rating. I looked at the potential 3 star listing, such as DoubleTree by Hilton, Four Points by Sheraton, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Hilton Garden Inns, Homewood Suites by Hilton and other brand-name and independent hotels. I was certianly under the impression that I would end up in one of those hotels. To my surprise I was assigned Days Inn ($84.66). I went to the Days Innn site and found that they are selling the room for $86.44 including tax. I saved a huge $2 discount. Wow!!! Our previous experience with DI has been terrible. It is a 2 star or less hotel in most circles. I called Hotwire to complain, the attendant and supervisor had their own version of how hotwire grades star and wouldn't cancel my booking. I think this is highly misleading and deceptive. I thought I was a getting a great hotel, but had to settle for less; I thought I got a great deal, but only to find the hotel was offering about the same price. This really sucks. Hotwire is deceptive and doesn't stand behind their advertisement.
