We stayed at an apartment in Rome, Vatican area for 3 nights from 12th Dec.

We were most unhappy by the lack of wifi internet despite their advertisement and feel that a partial refund is in order.

Their version of the story varied from day to day, everytime we asked whether the internet connection had been fixed. Eg on check in, we were told the internet stopped working the evening before our arrival. The next day, they informed us that there had been no internet since the weekend before our arrival (ie 72 hours prior). Every day, they would promise that the internet would be fixed within the day.

We were told that the whole area was affected, but this was not so at the restaurant just round the corner. For the entire duration of our stay, we had to go into other places just to access internet. This caused great inconvenience as we had to monitor our businesses overseas. If they had had the courtesy to inform us prior to our arrival, we would have switched to another accommodation. It was also very disappointing as we had chosen this place because it advertised internet availability. We also felt that they were being less than honest about this whole situation, but being tourists, felt completely helpless. We could not verify their dishonesty, beyond checking the internet situation with a random restaurant, as mentioned above.

There were also other issues which just made the whole experience even worse:
- substandard apartment with peeling furniture, mold in bathrooms, stains on sofa, heater towel rails not working.
- dishonest receptionist who kept trying to tout tours to us, to the extent of lying to us when we enquired about other options. (Eg, she said that unless we joined xx tours, we would not get into Vatican museum due to its long queues - we were able to verify that this was completely false.)
- despite advertised reception hours of 9am-1pm, the reception was closed one day and we had to ring the receptionist and plead with her to come in. She did so eventually at midday (by which time we had lost half a day of our holiday) and showed great displeasure, saying her motorbike had broken down.

Since our return, I have written to as I felt that based on the internet saga alone, a refund was necessary. He was not helpful. He further complicated things by giving yet another explanation as to why the reception was not attended to - that the receptionist had been authorized to work from home due to lack of internet. If this was the case, why had she not informed us so when we called her on that day?

This company's dishonesty leaves a very bad after taste. I would like them to refund some money to us. Also, I would like to see them improve so that they do not go on to ruin more holidays for other people.
