The worst flying experience of my life. - Flight issue

I recently took a vacation with my 3 children and my husband to Orlando, FL. Heading back to Phoenix, AZ we had a lay-over in Atlanta, GA. The weather was bad in GA so we had to wait 5 hours before boarding and another hour on the plane before departure. I asked several times if the delay would cause us to miss our connection and was assured that our next flight was going to be held up because of the weather and we would be fine. When we finally arrived in GA we had missed our connection... I spent almost 3 hours trying to find a solution for my family. I was told first that they were going to get us on another airline because there were no available seats on any flights to PHX for 2 days. Then I was sent to someone else who said no one had the authority to get us set up with any other airline and there was nothing they could do, we'd just have to wait for 2 days, period. At this point it was 2 am and my 16 month old was starving and crying, all my kids were exhausted and scared. No one offered any compensation, no help in figuring out how to get to a hotel. The staff was rude, indifferent and impatient. Eventually I found a hotel and a shuttle. The next day I called to check on the new flight info and Airtran had mistakenly switched my flight to Reagan, WA! I missed 2 days of work and had to pay out close to $200 for hotel expenses. I tell everyone I know not to fly this airline and I will continue to spread the word.
